Let’s run out of this country. Yes, we probably should. But hold on — let me explain. Instead of outright escaping, consider the option of visiting for vacations or business. This way, you can enter and leave as you wish, without feeling trapped.

But that’s not really where I’m going with this. Here’s the thing: we often want to run away from the country in search of greener pastures in places where people have worked hard to build something for their own children. Understand this — being taken in isn’t out of love. Not that they hate you either, but remember, you’re a stranger.

Entrepreneurship is the way. Sales are. Money-making is. Creating and selling value is the real deal. Unless you manage to build a solid business empire in these “greener pastures,” you’ll find yourself living paycheck to paycheck for years without making major progress. Haven’t you noticed that it’s tough for most uncles abroad to set you up financially back home? Yet, someone like Ebuka from the East can easily support you. Where the money isn’t available, it simply isn’t. And there’s no faking that when it comes to affording things. You can borrow, sure, but even that has its limits until you’re selling yourself and becoming a slave to debt. Sales is king. It’s tough, but that’s the reality.

One of the real benefits of traveling abroad should be to access quality education, network, and raise capital. Anything else, even if you’re currently getting by on a comfortable salary — which is what most people settle for when they “japa” — means your children and their children may suffer later. This isn’t about bitterness; it’s just the bitter truth. Remember when Ghanaians fled to Nigeria, abandoning their country? We sent them back eventually. So don’t be shocked if Europeans one day decide to send all migrants packing. But why wait until then to start building something of our own?

Some will say, “That’s the government’s job.” LOL! How naive. Get rich, get wealthy, and see just how much influence you can wield. If every poor person became rich, you’d realize that the government is ultimately subject to the will of the people.

My advice? Start a business, and stop looking for an escape. When you focus on doing the right thing at the right time, you’ll always end up doing the right thing. That’s how success works. If you want to travel to gain knowledge and come back to apply it to build something valuable, then that’s a great move. Ever notice that in many scholarship applications, they want you to return to your country and apply the knowledge there? But no — our greed and the allure of social media won’t let us. That’s why we’re stuck.

If only one person gets it right and shows the rest of us the way, you’ll see how one man can truly change the world.
